Rough sessions, on and off the felt!!

Had my roughest few playing days since I started using HEM, (I have bought the Pro version), this started with me peaking last Tuesday night at just over $3.2k profit, 10 days into the HEM trial, during the session I made a $2k withdrawal, a wage if you will, I was +$370 at this point, I finished the session +$65 after some sick sick beats and two redic coolers. (so nearly a $300 loss from that point)

Weds am: -$280 session, trying to get to grip two tarbing effectively, I noticed my session VPIP/PFR was 28/21 which is alot higher than usual and very fishy, with my post flop passivity literally burning money, my opponents also couldn't miss!! Weds afternoon, 2 tarbed and stopped making as many notes, as I found this was making me frustrated trying to keep on top of it. Managed a +$225 session happy days. Finished early n took the evening off.

Thursday: had a couple of mini sessions booking a small win on each for a couple of hundred hands.

Friday evening/Sat early hours - Missus fell asleep by 11pm during P.S. I love you, I'd love to put it down to me wearing her out but I'd be lying, I fire Full Tilt up as I now have a little peace and quiet to play, maybe I was to eager, but within an hour n half I was $400 down ARRRGHHH all pretty much down to bad play, SUCH AN UNFORGIVING GAME!!! Apart from a set over set hand, the rest was avoidable, open blasting a 3bet pot with 88 on a 10 high board, obv he had 3bet me with 1010. YET . . . even when we know we are playing bad we'll still be rationalising our "genius" bluffs/plays and berating the donks, in our head full of red rage and my overthunk marginal call on the river etc . . . At 2am I just decided to nit up and was going over hands on HEM and actually found it amusing how terribad I had played certain spots. So went back to basics, fucked the FPS off (fancy play syndrome) that seemed to have infected me, (brought on a small part by trying to interpret stats imho) and proceeded to two tarbs nit grind, at 5.15am I logged off 2380 hand session +$18.90 it felt like I'd won the lottery, I felt I could do it and I did, if I could get my head on, as it's just full and I mean FULL of awful players at that time of night and I refused to give up even at 4.30am when back up to just $10 down I ran AK into AA on an AKx flop after I'd flatted in the blinds, I managed to grind my $120 deficit in the aftermath of that cold flop into a minor winning session! I was so happy I couldn't sleep for about n hour lol. Not good when I'm meeting the lads at 1pm for the England game.

I just put it down to variance, but since I withdrew it's been a very rocky few sessions and with a two day hang over I've avoided any major sessions until today, I have always held with the old withdrawal curse mythology, this though is the first time I can really analyse my play and see if I am adjusting my play in an attempt to speed up "getting back to where I belong" roll wise. It does seem Doomswitch (RtR reg) is right to a degree my VPIP/PFR have significantly risen over the last few sessions. It has hurt me significantly IMO, I have discussed certain things on Raise the River as to how I find the 6 max $100nl tarbs, a big issue is this, the average $100nl Full Tilt fish DO have a very solid pre flop game, so my range opening up is a glaring problem that will get punished. Now this is all well and good, but throw in the standard downswong I was probably due and it isn't pretty. As seen in this session thread from today on RtR:

SESSION FROM HELL . . .

This left me with my biggest single session loss of -$335 in just 400 hands!!! Which is redic, again breaking my stop loss rule AGAIN here, it was car crash really, but running two tarbs of Rush you do lose track occasionally of how you are truly faring and my "non-standard" play's really hurt me today, although the perfect cards for me and my opponents certainly helped!! But I want to write about it to boot me up the ass! I can't afford to be dropping 5.5 buy ins. If I can get back to where I was at the beginning of last week, more controlled and observant and STOP the graph zig zagging I'll be happy, even some solid smaller sessions will be better than the crap today, YES I had the beats and coolers but I played two or three hands in such a destructive way, that I deserved it. I'm of the opinion usually if I'm running bad consistently and the villains seem to always have it, it's time to take a break close Full Tilt down. Today I went back to my beginner days and tilted off 2+ buy ins because "IT WASN'T FAIR!!" Get a grip DoV.

It's now Tuesday evening and I still am shaking off my hangover from Saturday, woke up on the bathroom floor at 10am Sunday morning, cleaned the puke up, cleaned me up, crawled into bed next to my thankfully zonked out missus, I got in at redic o'clock . . .

. . . missus had been to Liverpool for her mates birthday and still beat me home!! I decided a night in Blackpool was in order, AFTER an afternoon sesh in the pub, where I watched in fascination, the worst international team I've seen in ages, beat by England. Liked the look of our midfield, but as usual the press go overboard not taking the opposition in to account, Wales were dire, wp Gary Speed for setting up to attack England, simply lol, this left David Vaughan on the bench!! Defied belief. So Sunday and most of Monday were a miserable, depressing, write off.

I need to build my drinking stamina up seriously, got the NPF coming up!! OH YES!!! Then Notts for a 2 night stag do and 3 days after that . . . the dream will become reality as I travel to . . .

VEGAS BABY . . . where all poker tables look this good . . .

I cannot wait, 10 nights in the MGM Grand lads only ahem "Poker" break, arrive May 31st for the start of the WSOP . . . will I play, no way, not by todays standards I won't!! Although the $1k buy in is very tempting, just to say I have been and played the WSOP!! (. . . and you just never know!)

Read today; Manchester United have been voted the most hated "company" in the country, even more hated than the big banks, I lol'd!!
